SUNDAY, DAY OF REST....(WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE RESTING FROM?)

We woke up this morning to the sound of pitter patters on our bedroom slide..No, this does not mean we have small children dancing above us...it means we have a few random raindrops finding their way to our camper...There is something about waking up to rain that makes me less inclined to get up. I turned on our TV, (as I said before, this is not camping, this is RVing). When we finally did peel ourselves from under the down comforter, I realized there was a photo op in those clouds outside. Though there was no brilliant red sunrise, per say, the play of the clouds on the mountains was irresistible.

....what can I say???

I managed to catch a few pictures as the sun came up, bounced off the mountain, then splashed onto the desert floor...
...Sometimes I ask myself how many desert pictures like this do I need??? My answer is...ALL of them....Making memories, people, is what life is all about. (A shout out to Al, from THE BAYFIELD BUNCH, who I believe feels the same way.)
We took a walk around the campground ...not a high speed walk, and not 2 miles..Remember, this is our day of rest! We noticed the RV with the little red car was loading it up...Remember this car from a blog or two ago???
It is a sporty little job, eh? Well, they had another red car with them... (see above photo). We thought for sure that someone was visiting them, but this morning we found out differently...This is the second red car they brought with them....
This morning they were starting to pack up both cars....I couldn't believe they got both of them in their tow trailer, but...
...After he pulled this sporty job in, he apparently collapsed the windshield and back sissy bar, backed it further in and then raised it up with a wench, so he could pull the other red job in underneath it....unbelievable! I am constantly amazed at some peoples' ingenuity!!
I was trying to decide if I wanted to sit outside in the sun and read my book today...The wind was pretty chilly.  About that time,I happened to look over toward our neighbor's RV to the North of us (who, by the way, travel with 5 cats), and I noticed water gushing out of their hot water heater. It was like a waterfall!  I said something to Dennis, and he deemed it worthy of a visit to their front door. We weren't sure if they knew they had a problem, but McGuyver was about to tell them....
...He seemed glad to be told, and his wife came outside too. Myself, I stayed inside our RV..I figured I would document the event, as usual...
...They opened up the water heater and steam and water ran out....hmmm....A discussion ensued and I could sense that they had seen this problem before...No one seemed to jump to action...His wife went back inside and let the men discuss it...good call, I say...

I got the dope when Den came back after about 10 minutes of visiting. Apparently they have had a leak here before, and now, since it has gone from a leak to a waterfall, they will address the problem...They are full-time RV'ers, belonging to Escapee's Club...For those of you new to the RV world, Escapee Club is not a group of convicts who travel together..It is an organization for full timers who live in their RV..(it is my humble opinion that what they are escaping from are real estate taxes..smarter people than us!). At any rate, he thanked Dennis for the "heads up" and Den came back feeling he had been a good neighbor...
..As for me, now I was deciding to try the sunshine and brave the wind...As it turns out, this lasted for about 1 hour.  It went like this.. The sun is warm, the breeze comes up and now I am very  cold, I run inside waiting for the breeze to die down, I run outside in the sun again.. I kept repeating this procedure... for WAY too long!!! OK, kids, this is really looking ridiculous, not that I am unfamiliar to looking that way!!. I finally gave up and stayed inside..It LOOKED nice out, but as sometimes happens in the desert,  today the wind was a dealbreaker!! Today was good for one thing only....
...see the kite on the upper right???Here is a closer picture...
....The Canadian Maple Leaf lofty and proud overhead...What a perfect day for kite flying!!
We took our bike ride after I changed into sweats, socks, sneaks and jacket...I was NOT going to underestimate the breeze when riding into this wind!...and I was soooo right, it was chilly!! We rode out to the casino parking lot..There is a mountain range I wanted to try to photograph.  It is really hard to catch the light just right, they are quite far away, and seem very high...I have no clue what mountains they are. I asked Hickiwan Ray and he didn't even know...never the less, here they are...

This day had slipped by too fast....Dennis is the griller tonight, I am, again, the preparer. I have chicken thighs marinating, to be served with broccoli rice and a salad. It's just a good thing I never have room in my freezer for ice cream!! I just cannot rationalize moving OUT backribs and moving IN ice cream...
..Again, thanks for riding with us...but don't get out of the truck just yet, there is much more to come!!!

  1. Those are the Ajo mountains & there is a beautiful 25 mile loop drive in them across from the ranger station on the way to the Mexican border. Also some great hiking spots along that loop drive & maybe mountain poppies soon......
