Last night was a much calmer night at the "ol campground..It was very quiet most of the day..I think everyone slept in after last night's campfire....This morning when we got up it was 42 degrees...and, yes, we heard the "ghost" burros again last night..It's kind of like a serenade beneath your camper window. The moon was still up as the sun was beginning to rise over the mountains. One thing you are guaranteed here is a beautiful sunrise and sunset...I took the next photo this morning looking just across from our camper...I find the mountains magical when the sun plays off into shadows in the nooks and crannies...this is looking toward the Tohono O'Odham Nation....
..I must apologize to the Tohono O'Odham Nation...I was misspelling their name....I just discovered that yesterday...my humble apologies....
I spoke about having the faucet spickets removed and hanging from wires on the water faucets so the burros didn't rub up against them and turn them on...This isn't a great photo, but here it is...
....you can't see the wires very well, but use your imagination..trust me, they ARE there...After we took our walk, I put some of my famous "rub" on a pork roast for Dennis to grill tonight..Emeril ain't got nothin' on me!! My kids will testify to my rub recipe!! There wasn't a cloud in the sky....a picture perfect day in the desert...Here is a photo I took looking down the campers toward the desert....
...As you can see, there aren't many campers here right now..A lot of them left yesterday..they just stayed through the holidays and now are headed elsewhere. The weather here starts out cool in the morning. I walked in jeans, long sleeve T-shirt and flannel shirt...but by 11AM, the temp is about 60 degrees or more and the sun is very intense. You can really feel the heat from it here. I decided it was time to continue my "only" bad habit of sitting in the sun..Here are my feet and that is all I could take of myself.....you get the drift that is was nice and warm...
I have been waiting for Hummingbirds to make their appearance at my feeder, but all I get is Woodpeckers. Today I had a couple acrobatic ones, hanging on for dear life, but neither one willing to give up....
...those naughty birds! They have about cleaned out my Hummingbird food! Supposedly they will peck holes in your sewer hose to get water..not a good thing to have happen. We have had no problem with that yet...that we know of.....
Dennis and I did our monthly trauma of balancing our checkbook. This is can be a tense activity, especially if I made an error in subtraction..which I regularly do. The checkbook balance activity sometimes is followed by an hour of complete silence... but hey, once in a while it actually DOES balance...After that fun time was finished, Den came outside to relax. Here is our little shade tree..I think it is a Palo Verde...and it provides some much appreciated shade in the afternoon.
..When I was outside in the sun, Hickiwan Ray wandered over and I found out that we can get out mail delivered right here to the RV Park, instead of having to go into the post office..This is great! I also found out you can wash your RV here. Some parks don't allow it, but this one does...Boy, after the drive from Texas, our truck and RV are both one big dust ball!
I am going to try to get a better sunset photo tonight if I can. I need a few wispy clouds to be around the sun as it dives into the horizon...and from our camper there is a water tower in our view, so I am going to try to ride my bike up to the parking lot of the Casino to get a better shot...(That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!)...I must postpone putting on my "uniform" until I return...no need to scare any burros I may encounter..
And now it is 4PM here and I need to get our salad ready for later....I think I am ready to have a cocktail hour tonight...but NO MANHATTANS!!!....lesson learned!!! more later...
