Last November, when we left Illinois in the Hiker for the FIRST time, McGuyver and I headed South through Mississippi…The idea was to visit some Civil War Historical sites. Our first stop was at Grenada, MS. We have stayed there before and it’s very nice…We visited a site that used to be home to an old fort…
From there we headed across the state toward Greenville, MS , and found a place called Warfield Park , right on the Mississippi River…
…All was going well for a few days…until McGuyver’s back went out, and we got to visit the local “walk-in” clinic and ultimately ended up at…
With all of the flooding going on in the Mississippi Delta, I wonder if Warfield Park campground is under water….I realize the Army Corp of Engineers is trying to save Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but the loss to the local communities along the path in Louisiana will be devastating, to say the least…I cannot imagine someone knocking at our door and saying, “Sorry, you have to leave your home, we are going to flood your property and it will soon be underwater….
On the up side of things, we had a pair of Wrens checking out one of our birdhouses…
“HEY GLADYS!!! THIS HOUSE IS EMPTY, LOOKS GOOD TO ME…LET’S GIVE IT A TRY!”
We had a Skype from the Wolffs in Zionsville….and got to see how much our new grandson, Maddox, has grown. He weighed in at 6lbs, 9oz…At his 5 week check up, he weighed 9lbs, 13.5 oz, and grew 2” in length…I see a linebacker in the future Purdue University’s Boilermakers!!
Maddox Isaac Wolff, left at age 1 week,….. middle and right, age 5weeks…Hey, we got a smile…or else he had some gas….Man do they grow fast!!
Today I walked out to the veggie garden, and my radishes are popped up…lettuce will be right behind it…Now is the time to get the fence out and play “try to keep the bunnies from having salad for lunch every day at The Cave Garden Café”…..Wish us luck….This is almost as useless as the game of “squirrel wars”…!!!!!!!
What about the martin house?? :)
ReplyDeleteMaddox is growing and growing! What a wonder a baby can be, a great gift from God, a joy to behold. We are enjoying our visit here with our 18-month old great grandson, and will feature him in a blog soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad to think of all the flooding going on along the Mississippi River. It is possible that the campground is now under water and what a shame....such a pretty place.
ReplyDeleteMaddox is adorable and has really done some growing!
Good luck with your "rabbit wars." I hope you win.
Yes, it's too late to get any martins this year, IMHO. I'd take it down, clean it out, and put it back up in March next year. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are on our second go around of wrens in the Bird Motel here at the Weeb Ranch, boy they grow fast. We will probably have a couple more tenants before summer is over.Maddox is sure growing fast, watch out Denny won't be long and he'll be asking Grandpa for a sip of his beer. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteMaddox definitely looks to be linebacker material alright! He's growing fast.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about all that flooding along the Mississippi. Sure hate to see that.
Yep, know what you mean by feeling useless when it comes to the Squirrel wars. One step forward & 5 steps back pretty well sums up the battles:))
ReplyDeletesad to see all the flooding going on everywhere..even here in our province..then there are the fires in Alberta..a whole town wiped out!
ReplyDeleteMaddox is growing so fast!!..before you know it he will be walking!!
What a cutie-they grow so fast!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what it is like to deal with all the flooding...
ReplyDeleteGood look on the foot surgery next week!
