NO BEARS TODAY…REAL OR OTHERWISE….

First of all I would like to welcome another brave new follower, Lynn-Country Heart and Roses….It is my firm belief that there is nothing better than a “country heart”, and I hope you like riding with this rowdy group we have in the back seat of our GMC!!!  WE DO HAVE FUN, THATS’ FOR SURE!

Today is Sunday, which means Chicago Bears football at our house.  However, we cannot get the Bears down here, so we will have to be content with checking our WGN Chicago radio station online….To tell you the truth, they have been zero, zip, zilch fun to watch lately anyway.  We need an offensive line to protect our quarterback, and so far we have a bunch of panty wastes.  I WANT DITKA BACK!!! WHAT COACH HAS THE NAME OF “LOVEY” ANYWAY???

This campground we are in has had lots of work done since we were here last…They poured all new pads and got new picnic tables, grills and fire pits since we were here 2 years ago….

….Maybe this is the reason the price went up this year.

EVERY SITE EVEN GOT NEW GARBAGE CANS..NOW THAT’S PROGRESS!!

This park has a few spots in the front that are out of the trees, but most of the sites are in heavily wooded areas.

At one point in time, there  must have been an old bridge over the ravine…The cement remains are still here in the photo on the right. There is no shortage of firewood here and McGuyver has been busy as a beaver with his electric chain saw.  We found some huge mushrooms growing on some of the wood…

If I knew for certain I wouldn’t die, I would love to stuff that big one and have it for dinner tonight….

Tomorrow is laundry day, so we will drive back into Grenada and probably pick up a few groceries.  Tonight we are having Cornish Game Hens on the grill, and I have them marinating in buttermilk, garlic pepper and Louisiana Hot Sauce.  All they need is my famous rub, and they will be good to go. I also made some homemade potato salad to go with them.. See kids, I told you that we would get to the good food eventually!!!

Our game plan from here is to go to Greenville MS to Warfield Point Military Park for 4 nights, then on to Lake Bruin State Park  LA,  which will be our base camp to go to Vicksburg.  We will be there 1 week.  We have found that you MUST have a reservation over Thanksgiving weekend, or you could spend it in a WalMart parking lot eating KFC.  Therefore, we booked ourselves in at North Toledo Bend State Park in Louisiana  for the week covering Thanksgiving.  From there we are fairly close to Natchitoses, LA to do some day tripping.  After that, we hope to spend some time in Jefferson TX.

So now that you see we actually HAVE  a plan, you can relax and stop asking “Are we there yet?”….Yes, we are.. we are there..and there….and there….and that’s the beauty of pulling your house behind!!!

MORE LATER…AND THANKS AGAIN FOR CHECKING IN!!!

  1. Have Denny tie those hens to the top of the grill really tight so they don't jump off.Sounds like good ole country fixins to me. Be safe out there hope it is getting warmer. Sam & Donna.

  3. Thank you so much Donna for the really nice Welcome! Oh my, I would LOVE to be out there with you all, traveling the U. S. again! I did just that though back in 1977. We sold our home in Pa. and bought a motor home and off we went.. just the 4 of us, to states unknown to us.. We never knew where we were traveling to, we just drove till we decided to stop and check out the sights. We traveled for about 3months straight, from June to August! We went as far south as Williamburg, Va., then we decided to head West, and went as far as San Francisco, Ca., and then we traveled to Tampa, Fla., and decided that we'd relocate there. We had our choice of any of the states as to where we wanted to settle down at.. I am the one who decided on Tampa, as I had an aunt and uncle and two cousins who lived there at that time, and that would be so much better for us to know somebody than to live in a strange place not knowing anybody.. We had the best time those 3 months and the wonderful memories we made back then are still so very vivid to us today! I would love to be able to do that again someday! I love following you and the others on your blogs! Maybe someday my husband and I will be able to join you all in traveling in our RV across these united states! That would be so very awesome....again!!

    Blessings,
    ~Lynn

  5. Dinner sounds awesome. I use that exact marinade when I make fried chicken.

We'll be about 55 miles south of you in Martin Dies, Jr. State Park the week of Thanksgiving.

I looked up looked up the Toledo Bend park, its beautiful.

Depending on our schedules, maybe we can hook up sometime that week.
