BEFORE…..AND AFTER…..

Remember the garage sale chandelier I snagged before anyone else could get their hands on it????

…BEFORE, WORKING ON IT IN THE BASEMENT…..       ….AND, AFTER..HANGING OVER THE TABLE……

JUST FLIP THE LIGHTSWITCH, AND TRA DA!!!!!

AN UGLY DUCKLING CHANDELIER BECOMES A SWAN….

It looks fabulous hanging over our kitchen table…As our neighbor, Deb the Chandelier Queen, says….”It’s a touch of elegance in a country kitchen, thus making my kitchen décor “country french”…(I thought our kitchen décor was “early garage sale” myself, but I’m willing to go along with Deb’s description….it sounds nicer…

I rode my bike past the train car today and it is progressing nicely…

….They left the oval windows, to my joy!..and they created a beautiful front end of windows.  The place is due to open in October, so hopefully we will be able to “experience the ambiance” before we head South.

There is a house in Sandwich that starts getting their Halloween up very early…I am sure it’s because they have a gazillion trillion zombies, gravestones, ghosts, witches, skeletons, coffins, bats and lots of fake blood to put on display.  I drove by this morning and got a couple photos of the gore….

This stuff has been up at least 2 weeks….On Halloween, there is a line to get to their front door.  If there had been a house like that in our neighborhood when I was growing up, NO WAY would I walk through that bloodbath just for candy..They better be giving away money or something like it!!!

McGuyver got our new TV all trimmed out in the Hiker.  He built a new “frame” for around the opening because the old TV was fatter and taller. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that)…  These new HD televisions are not as tall, so you can see back into the cabinet…

I think the oak frame looks even better than the original stuff that was around the old TV….

                      GREAT JOB, MCGUYER!!!!

Short blog today….Lots going on with my sister…She has been in and out of Critical Care, taken to the ER 3 times, and been intubated with a ventilator at least 3 times…..So I have been going back and forth to Elgin lots….But with all of these set backs, Darlene manages to maintain her great sense of humor….She’s one of a kind!….

Thanks to all of you who take the time to read my drivel…..And now….for me…it is “wine” o’clock….

  1. The chandelier is awesome!!! As is the framework around the TV. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the awesomeness of your new photo! :) It's really a great pic of you two.

    Be well,

  3. That chandelier looks terrific, but you must have a pretty fancy kitchen for something that spiffy looking!

The Halloween House sure looks like those folks put an awful lot of work into it - are they the Munster's or something?

Sorry to hear your sister is having such a tough time.

I'm with you on that Halloween house....wouldn't walk through that for any amount of candy. I wouldn't sleep for weeks. LOL

So sorry to hear about your sister. I will certainly keep her in my prayers.

I'll have to agree with the rest and let you know that your header picture is awesome!

The Halloween house is very cool. I love when people use their creativity!

Our thoughts are with you and Darlene. May she continue to use her amazing sense of humor and determination to help her pull through this.

  10. No, I will not use the 'A' word to describe your header pic but I do think it is one mighty fine picture of you two for sure. And no, I will not use the overworked 'A' word to describe your salvaged chandelier but you did do a great job on that as well. No 'A' word for the diner, it just simply looks like it's going to be a nice looking place. Dennis's framed in TV does not get the.....ho-hum 'A' word either. Nice job Dennis & well done:))
