RE-THINKING A POST….AND POSTING IT AFTER ALL….

WHEN I ORIGINALLY WROTE THIS POST, IT WAS ON SUNDAY MORNING, BEFORE I KNEW OF THE  HEARTBREAKING PASSING OF MARGIE AND BRUCE… IT WAS TO BE POSTED ON MONDAY.  AFTER LEARNING OF THE TRAGIC NEWS ,  I JUST COULDN’T POST IT.  HOWEVER, AFTER REREADING IT TODAY, IT SEEMS, FOR SOME REASON,  I GOT A LITTLE REFLECTIVE ABOUT LIFE IN THIS PARTICULAR POST..WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT COULD BE SO POIGNANT TODAY…AND HOW CLUELESS I WAS WHEN I WROTE IT…..SO….I AM CHOOSING TO POST IT “AS IT WAS WRITTEN” SUNDAY MORNING…

HAVE I TOLD YOU……????  I JUST LOVE AUTUMN!!!!!!

What a great Saturday we had! The weather just keeps getting better.  We still haven’t had a hard freeze yet, and the sun is brilliant against the turning leaves….

I took a walk through town about noon.  As usual, I started out in a sweatshirt and ended up tying it around my waste because I was too warm.  Sometimes I think we who live here in this small town get TOO complacent about our surroundings.  There are some really lovely old buildings here, and they seem to be oozing history, just waiting to be told.

Sandwich has many antique stores, not to mention an antique show once a month at the Sandwich Fairgrounds.  A couple of the neat older homes have been converted to little shops.  On the fall weekends our streets are full of people from the Western suburbs, wanting to get a taste of our unique small town.   As much as I complain about how boring our scenery is here, I know I sometimes I get in a big hurry, and look past the wonderful views you can get from just walking down Main Street.  Sometimes I think I take too many things for granted…..100_8441100_8443

My walk took me past the Bull Moose Bar and Grill (the old train car).  I didn’t have on my hard hat…(I discovered it wasn’t a good look for me), but no one was working on it today anyway. Progress is slow going…I’m gonna have to kick some serious butt down there…I want to see it open before us “snowbirds” take flight!!!

It’s days like these that make me feel like I should shut my mouth and be grateful for EVERY day….There is a saying that I like…  “Some people are so worried about dying that they forget to live”….and today makes me feel really lucky to be alive!!  Breathe in…Breathe out…what a wonderful feeling!

Yup, that is Holly you see above….growing outside our Fire Department…go figure.

DO YOU SEE THE FACE IN THIS TREE?….EYES ARE LIT FROM WITHIN, MOUTH IS SAYING “AAAAAHHHHH” OK, SO MAYBE IT’S JUST ME..…AND I’M NOT SURE WHY THERE IS A KNOT ON HIS FOREHEAD…THIS TREE IS RIGHT NEAR OUR HOUSE…I HAVE NO IDEA HOW OLD IT IS, BUT I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED IT…..

My Iris are still too stubborn to “hang it up” until next spring..They are blooming like crazy…and the Monarchs are thick here  this weekend….They are getting their last taste of nectar from these late blooming blossoms before they head South….

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY….

LIFE IS FABULOUS, EH??

  1. Looks like a great set of Sandwich pictures to me. The Bull Moose seems to be coming along just fine, I know it will be finished by the time I am on another great train adventure next summer and I finally get to Sandwich to see the trains in your back yard. Did you say Bar, Well I know where we will have a lunch when I get there. Check and see if they have High Life Light.Be safe out there, Nurse Crathcet & Donna.

  3. Your post today was perfect!! I believe it is MOST fitting for us all to stop and reflect on our lives and blessings and to not take any day for granted. Life is beautiful and worth the living. Our friends, Bruce and Margie, certainly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. They died together and doing what made them happiest and gave them peace. We should all take a lesson.

Your pics today are especially beautiful (I wonder why??) I treasure all my blogging/RVing friends. You guys take care and enjoy this wonderful fall.

  5. Fall is my favorite time of year! I just wished it'd last longer. :)

It's great that you take time to look around you. I know I'm guilty of getting in the same routine of having my mind opcupied by those things I can't seem to change while I'm in motion, walking or driving. It'd be so much more productive and healthy to look around me more often and appreciate the scenery or the person that I'm with at the time.

    Warm wishes
    Connie

  9. Hey there blog mom! I loved your post today. It made me take some deep breaths and reflect on how blessed I am to be alive and healthy. I also want to make sure you know that you have a place in my heart. I look forward every day to reading your blog...even when I don't comment. You always crack me up! And lemme tell ya, it freaks me out how alike we are! I totally saw that face in the tree before I even read the description. I sit on the toilet & swear I can make out faces in the patterns in the linoleum floor. I always thought it was a special gift I had. Maybe I got it from you. Luv ya blog ma!
