A LAST “GASP” FROM SUMMER….THEN…. THE CHILLY BREATH OF FALL..

We have had quite a nice September…lots of sunshine and dry beautiful days.  I walked around the house yesterday and notice a few last blooms of the summer….My Iris were beginning to bloom again…my roses too.

Maybe someone should tell them of the frost warning for early Sunday morning, but I don’t speak “floral”….They’re gonna get their little noses nipped.  My Chrysanthemums are just beginning to bloom …In fact we have more flowers in bloom right now than we have had all  summer….

Yesterday Terrie came over in need of my hairdresser skills.  She wanted a cut and highlight.  Let see…..that would be about $130.00 in a good salon….I think I can give her a better price than that…like FREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! After all, she has to blow her own hair dry after it’s all done….

I don’t do much hair anymore..I do cut my grandkids hair, Den’s, and my daughters too.  A few of McGuyver’s friends come over once in a while for a trim .  I’m not so sure if it’s because I do a good haircut…or that I am cheap.  Hey, I can’t ask them to go into my “Silence of the Lambs” basement with the spiders and cobwebs, (which is where I do haircuts), and then charge them an arm and a leg!! It’s like a Witch’s Hairdressing Den down there…

Actually it is a bit like a Halloween House upstairs too….

…I actually used to dress up like a witch and answer my door on Halloween night.  I finally quit doing that…I found I was scaring more little kids every year….Funny, but when I answer the door now on Halloween, they still run screaming into the night….It could be my uniform, eh???

I like getting all of my candles lit in the evening, especially in the fall.100_8223

There is a nice little chill in the air this evening, and Dennis should be home from his “farming” soon.  Pal, the man he farms for , isn’t with Dennis tonight.  Pal’s wife is in the hospital, so Dennis A.K.A. McGuyver is wandering in the corn and beans by himself,  scaring up deer and raccoons with the big green combine.  He really enjoys this farming thing…It reminds me of “The Real McCoys”..(and if you remember THAT TV show, you are just like Dennis and myself…OLDER THAN DIRT!!)

HAVE A GREAT HALLOWEENY OCTOBER!!!!

  1. Great Pictures. We are so loving the cooler weather here in Texas. It is about time we got a break from the heat.

  3. Seems like everyone is having great weather now. Here in Central Florida it was an absolutely gorgeous day. I do miss all the Halloween decorations we had when we lived in the house and always trick or treating with our kids and grandkids. I only kept one holiday decoration for Halloween and one for Christmas. That's sort of sad.

  4. Iris blooming again? What's up with that? I love the color of the rose. Yay, I remember the TV show, too, but at least I'm not as old as stones. :)

  6. Scented candles go hand in hand with Autumns cooler air. Love the cozy warm feeling in the house as furnaces & fireplaces warm the aromatic air.

  8. Don't you just love it when fall season comes and there is a brisk cool breeze in the air. Not to mention the changing of the leaves. Yes, I must be one of the older than dirts because I used to watch that show and guess I liked Walter Brennan in that show.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
