First of all, we have been joined by 2 brave bloggers….Jim and Sandie, and Michael Ultra ..Welcome to our world, which at times can be very confusing and a little strange , but rarely boring. If we ever saddle up the Hiker, it becomes LOTS more fun! (Although this Wisconsin trip ranks right up there!)
So….for 3 full days we went to Hayward WI to be with our family and friends…There were kids, grandkids, cousins, in-laws, out-laws and family-like friends. We left Monday at 5:45 AM…..and just North of Rockford, we ended up in 70 MPH straight line winds and rain coming sideways….Everyone on I-90 was slowed to 10 MPH, or pulling off on the side….
This was the view we had for almost 20 minutes…The wipers couldn’t keep up and visibility was ZERO!! My theory is that this storm was just prepping us for our family vacation….at times very scary, but always exciting…
We arrived about 12:30 PM….LET THE GAMES COMMENCE!!
There were a total of 31 family and friends spread out in 4 cabins and 1 hotel suite and 1 tiny little motel room(that would have been McGuyver and I)…We slept at a little 6 room motel 2 miles from the group…a safe distance…But we played at Treelands Resort with the rest of the Crazy Caves… See photo below…Just right for us older Caves…
HERE ARE A FEW CANDIDS FROM OUR TRIP……AND A COUPLE COLLAGES TO KEEP THIS FROM BECOMING A HUGE PHOTO ALBUM….(TEE HEE)…
..Some of us did some water skiing..(no, not Dennis or myself)..
Tim, Terrie and Taylor, respectively… We were lucky enough to have 3 boats up there…Mark, Den’s nephew, Leanne, Den’s niece, and Gene Frieders, a very good friend…We rode in the boat that our good friends Gene and Julie Frieders provided…
Some of us went tubing…Left is Peyton and Mike Frieders..Right is our son, Kelly, friend Mike, and son-in-law Tim…Poor Mike got stuck in the tube between Kelly and Tim and almost got crushed on the turns!!
Some tried to kayak…and ended up in the lake….Hmmm, looks like my son….Was he in the Navy????
We took 3 boatloads, and rode over to a bar on the Chippewa Flowage called Tiger Muskie…We got initiated at the bar … It seems that if you are a new person in the bar, you gotta drink a “Tidal Wave”…Den, myself, Ter and Tim were the “new kids on the block”….A Tidal Wave consists of 4 shot glasses glued to a water ski and filled with some “beverage”…On the count of 3, you all gotta drink at the same time……
…and just as you drink, the bartender sprays you with water….Hence the term Tidal Wave…very funny.
I should have gotten suspicious when someone grabbed our camera….
HEY!!!! I THINK I’M THE ONE WHO CAUGHT THE BIGGEST WAVE!!!!
We had a hot dog cook-off at the Cave/Wolff cabin…This is no cabin....It is a vacation home…
There were about 8 different kinds of hot dogs….even deep fried.. I could barely walk when I had sampled all of them…We decided all were good and there was no clear prize winner….I never want to see another hot dog again…
We even managed to get a family photo of us and our kids and grandkids….
I LOVE OUR FAMILY!!!
….AND THIS IS WHY!!!!
Thanks for tuning in to our insanity!!!!
(Whew…..we are now signing up for AA de tox and checking into the “home” for some much needed rest. I’m the old broad at the end of the hall with the tattoos…)
Wow looks like you guys had a great time, I've seen those tidal waves in other places,We had a cop bar that used to serve a Blue Blazer, it was some kind of blue liquor that was served to you on fire and you blew it out and drank it down, you had to really blow hard or your mustache could catch Fire.Glad to see the whole family had fun. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
