Our little town of Sandwich had a 4 day July 4th celebration this year….As usual, the parade route goes just one block from our house…
THE SANDWICH FIRE DEPARTMENT LEADS IT IN….
WE HAVE QUITE A NICE GROUP OF BIG FIRETRUCKS.!!!..AND LOUD!!
The kids were all lined up to catch the proverbial “candy throw”….and some were too scared by the loud sirens…
Little Teagan Brinnegar wanted no part of it…Even Terrie tried to console her, but she hugged her Daddy tightly!
THE COLOR GUARD IS ALWAYS ONE OF MY FAVORITES…
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!” …AND THANKS TO OUR TROOPS FOR ALL THEY DO !
Lots of people lines the streets to watch..We only had to walk 1/2 block to get a great spot on our corner…
There were “old folks”….. ….and “youngsters”….
I JUST LOVE PARADES!!
Later in the day, Den and I went out to the Best Western hotel and had a cocktail…They have a lovely outdoor balcony to sit on, but the weather was too darn hot and even the cocktail waitresses wouldn’t venture out…
They also have a firepit and a sand volleyball court out in back…Notice NO ONE is dumb enough to do either in this heat!
We used to spend a lot of time at Tom and Leanne’s pool…That might be a thought for this summer…Now our daughter Terrie had a pool, too!!
Left to right is Ronnie, A.K.A. Big Fluffy (Scotty’s Dad), McGuyver in the middle, and Leanne A.K.A Leo, Scotty’s sister…
Note that this pool backs right up to the cornfields!!
I hope everyone has a great and safe July 4th weekend..and take some time to realize what a great country we live in…despite the present turmoil…
WHAT A COUNTRY !!!
Small town parades are the best!

ReplyDeleteSmall town parades is great. And one of the fun things me and Nilda gits to do is be a different town each year to see their parade, and no matter how big or little they is, yer sure right, What A Country.
ReplyDeleteA little Sousa music please! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are having our parade tomorrow morning in our neighbor town of O'Fallon MO. When we had the Air Guard Squadron in St Louis Mo. They used to fly four of their f-15's in a diamond formation right up Main Street at low altitude and then pull into a vertical climb on their tails, what a show stopper .The squadron moved out to the base near Kansas City so I don't know if we'll see them or not although 300 miles is a short hop for a jet. Hope we have as nice a morning as you guys had. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteSure am glad nothing rained on your paradeL))
