Soooo…Before the Health Department came and closed our camper down, we decided it best to hook the Hiker back on, stow away all things that could slop or fall over, pull in the slides and drive the 4 miles to the dump station at Brushy Creek. Our dump station was still yellow taped off (like a murder scene) , and I’m sure there was more than one set of campers who were biting their fingernails over this one…When we got up Tuesday morning, this is what we found….
Jack Frost found his way to the GMC and did a beautiful work of art on the windshield!
We put on our warm jackets and took the Hiker on a road trip to dump our tanks….Dennis left one of the back wheel chocks in it’s exact place ..He was intent on putting this rig back in the “hole” EXACTLY where we originally were….
He dumpeth…………. He backeth in………………
AND YES, HE BACKED RIGHT UP AGAINST THE WAITING WHEEL CHOCK…….WAS THERE EVER ANY DOUBT???
..Before I forget, and trust me I could, I now can officially welcome Craig and Sue from Iowa to our blog….We can get marginally politically incorrect, so I apologize ahead of time for any faux pas I commit…and I will.
We have had some glorious sunsets here at Buckhorn Creek. Last night we were sitting outside by the fire as it was getting dark….
IT WAS A PERFECT SUNSET SO DENNIS TOOK A PHOTO….THEN I TOOK THE CAMERA INSIDE…WHEN I CAME BACK OUTSIDE AND SAT BACK DOWN, A BEAUTIFUL BALD EAGLE FLEW RIGHT BY US OVERHEAD….AND NO PHOTO…I KID YOU NOT, WE TRULY COULD HAVE BEEN IN ONE OF THOSE “GO RV’ING” COMMERCIALS….SOMETIMES I THINK IT’S BEST TO JUST TAKE A PHOTO WITH OUR MEMORY AND FORGET ABOUT THE DOCUMENTATION…..AND THAT’S JUST WHAT WE DID. ..NO EAGLE PICTURE, BUT WHAT A THRILL TO SEE HIM SWOOPING BY , UNCONCERNED, AND PUTTING ON A SHOW JUST FOR US...These photos were taken on our walk…That pine tree, lower right, is NOT growing there…These people actually went out , got a tree, and lashed it to their lantern post…I see some lights lying around, and I have a feeling it will be decorated soon.
In my last blog I caught some flak about my misspelling of SHIN splints as CHIN splints….Mike found it amusing…and so did Rick..In fact Rick asked me to take a picture of this new invention, chinsplints…SOOOOO…HERE IT IS….
I hesitated to make this photo tooooo large, in case small pets or children might stumble upon it and require an EMT. Plus, I didn’t want anyone, getting too good a look at this great CHINSPLINT prototype and copying it!!! (That goes for both of you Yo Yo’s!!)….
Isn’t it sooooo great at all of the fun we have here in the blogosphere??? Myself, I am a closet comedian, so I enjoy it more than I can explain….Thanks for ALL of your comments…You inspire me to act like slightly looney, which is my favorite thing to do!!! (NO, REALLY????)…..SEE PHOTO ABOVE..I REST MY CASE…
Nice to see you are having fun, dumping, frost, a chin splint, and a bald eagle all in one day. Just holding on for the ride back here, tell Denny boy to bring out a couple of cold High Life's. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeletewe are having so much fun riding along with you and Dennis!..great job backing the fiver in!!!..love the chinsplint..as we all get older we could use on of those for the 'turkey neck' that seems to develop!..beautiful sunset picture..and yes, a memory is the best kind of picture..thanks for having us along for the ride!!!..oh, and happy birthday to your beautiful middle daughter!!!..from one middle child to another..I know how hard it is to be the middle!..not the oldest and not the youngest!!..have a great day!!!..what time is happy hour tonight!?..we are waiting!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Terrie! She sure looks like her Mom! (just a bit of sucking up after yesterday!).
ReplyDeleteDennis can back my rig up anytime - I'd be lucky to get back into the same site let alone to the same block!
Great pics of the sunset. As you say, sometimes it's just best to leave the camera behind, enjoy the spectacular scenes we see and keep the memories.
As for the chinsplint invention, this 'YoYo' thinks it kind of reminds him of the things folks wear when they have the Mumps! I sure hope that knot at the top isn't tied to tight either!!
That Dennis is one smart fellow!! I wish I could get my backing down like that.
ReplyDeleteWOW! that chinsplint is very attractive. I need to get one of those!
Too bad about the eagle. It's Murphy's Law.
Travel Safe
Hmmm...that chin splint looks pretty versatile. Maybe you could give it to the Yo-Yos and they could each wear it horizontally! Of course, that wouldn't keep their fingers from blabbing. :)
ReplyDeleteGee, something for those of us who have double chins that need splinting! great invention, I'll have to try it.
ReplyDeleteChin Splint Huh! Pretty clever. Next you need to work on a cordless, rechargeable, solar powered, smoke free, odor free incinerator & you can skip those trips to the dump station and not have to cross the crime scene tape.
ReplyDeleteLMBO!!! First you did a bunny foo foo impersonation (remember the hair cut post!), and now, you've topped it with your new chin splint invention. If it helps with smoothing out wrinkles or jowls, then come back and let us know ;) hehe! I know...I'm incorrigible!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Terrie!! She's a beauty...is she adopted too? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
xoxo!
Nellie
I need one of those chinsplints -- not too long ago I posted about my wattle, but haven't -- until now -- found the solution!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love the chinsplint! Nicely done :) That sunset picture is easily one of the best I have seen, just amazing! I know what you mean about capturing memories with your mind instead of a camera too. I have passed on several great pictures over the years due to a feeling that somehow, trying to preserve such an amazing, fleeting moment would cheapen it in some way.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am getting all deep and serious while wearing 1 piece sock monkey PJ's with little monkey heads for feet... It just doesn't seem right!
Nice job backing up that rig Dennis! Happy Birthday Terrie! This Yo-Yo's fingers never stop blabbing! LOL!
Love your blog!!
