“MEET AND GREET” with Rick and Elaine!!

Yesterday afternoon, McGuyver and I arrange to get together with Rick and Elaine, fellow bloggers from New Brunswick, Canada…They are staying at The Glades RV Resort, just down the road from our spot ….Elaine and I share something..we are both sick, (no NOT sick and depraved..well,maybe ME), sick as in chest congestion and sinus crud…and we are both “sick” and tired of being SICK..FOR GOSH DARN SAKE!! We opted for them to come to the Hiker and have a few adult beverages (for medicinal purposes only, of course)…The trouble was, Elaine was on antibiotics and couldn’t partake of any alcohol…Steaming mad…Rest assured that I was self medicating with a large Rum and Diet Dr. Thunder. Of course Dennis and Rick were using beer as their elixir of choice…

The fact that Elaine and I were not feeling 100%, probably kept us from having to use the “bail bondsman” card…Which means we were NOT our usual wild and crazy selves…Party smileright Elaine?

We had a great time visiting with Rick and Elaine.  They are genuinely fun peeps and it sounds like they have a wonderful family of 5 kids and 2 dogs.  Elaine told us that they are going up to Tampa on Jan 16th to a big RV show…and she is NOT allowing Rick to go into any NEW RV’s while they are there…It seems Rick has some kind of addiction to craving different RV’s…one he cannot keep under control…Good Luck, Elaine..After meeting Rick, I know for sure that you will not be keeping him “in line” at an RV show…NO WAY, NO HOW!!…Maybe you should take away his credit cart and wallet, eh??   Elaine told me she went home after visiting us last night, and got a killer sinus headache …See??? Liquor should have been consumed, Elaine…at least a sip..Winking smile

After our company left last night, I got on one of my more attractive “ensembles” and McGyver and I sat outside a little longer until dark….I certainly didn’t want to be attired in this outfit for company….However, I really don’t think I could shock Rick and Elaine…they roll with the flow very well…

I look like a deer in the headlights…and usually I don’t bare my legs, but I guess I just threw caution to the wind…it was a warm wind…

In the evening we have ALL shade on the entrance side of the Hiker..but in the morning it is ALL sun..This is why I take our chairs and coffee and go out and sit by the truck…We do have a big tree that shades our truck area in the morning….This is where we find a great spot for coffee…Actually, yesterday I was parked by myself under the tongue of the Hiker in the shade for MY coffee…McGyver would have bumped his head, and we don’t want any more of that happening!

Left it my view from under the camper tongue…Middle is Den’s afternoon spot…and…what can I say about the pic on the right?…This guy is dumping his tanks via bicycle….never thought of that one…Actually, today the people across from us walked their “honey wagon” up to the dump station…I guess there are many different ways to get “to da dump, to da dump, to da dump, dump, dump….eh? Below is where McGyver and I had coffee this morning..As you can see, our camp area is full morning sun, but we found the shade of our tree..and basked in the Florida ambience….

This morning when we took our walk we noticed that a pretty nice pleasure boat was getting ready to go through the locks…I waited until he locked through and got a few pictures of this craft….…not a bad little cruiser, right?? I waved and waved, but nobody waved back…They must have been busy counting their moneyDisappointed smile…We also walked down onto the fishing pier…This is really a neat spot..Lots of people fishing along the river.

As I turned around, I spotted something very weird scrambling up the rocky cliff across from us…I alerted Dennis to a possible wildlife siting.  It looked to me like a seal,  and…lo and behold , there was an otter on that bank of rocks, rolling around in the dust..I tried to get a picture, but was shooting into the sun and wasn’t very successful…I had no idea there were otters here, thought they were only up North…Chalk that lesson up with the Bear Crossing sign…

That little dark thing just above the greenery by the Palm Tree….that is an otter…trust me on this…We DID see it, but the phone camera isn’t always the best, that’s for sure…I need a new digital camera some day.

This Heron was a little easier to shoot get a picture of….Just behind him is where the boats exit the locks and end up back in the river…about an 8’ rise….

There is just something about Florida that allows you to paint your homes pink and get away with it…In Illinois, you would be shunned in the neighborhood…

As you can see, we are really enjoying Florida…We drove into LaBelle to the Moose Lodge this afternoon, and stopped at the Winn Dixie for a couple things…We haven’t been in a Winn Dixie for at least 20 years….I found their meat to be darn expensive, and it looks like my only choice is to do mortal combat and go back to the Wally in Clewiston…This very possibly could get me thrown OUT of that Wally…Wally and moi do not get along very well, and this one is about a 1 on a scale of 1to10…Watch for my name in the LaBelle Star…it’s bound to happen…Devil..
