THIS IS NO GREAT “FEET”…..

I’d like to welcome a couple new followers to our sometimes “strange” blog .. A bit shout out to rwk  and msucheermom!!! If you nod off at times during the blog, don’t worry, so do I.  Also, a few peeps wondered where I got my Crocs wine coaster..It was a gift from our son and his wife, but here is a link online…

OK, I’m trying soooo very hard to pretend I’m in Arizona, but it isn’t easy!!

I polished my toenails for sandals……NOT HAPPENING!  I even persuaded a friend to wear turquoise…

But it sure isn’t easy to think “sandals and turquoise” here in this weather!! What a Hoot!

Just before we left for Texas (the SECOND time)..I went to the Foot Doc for Plantar’s Fasciitis. (No, that isn’t a fancy mixed nut dish.)  I was given bought these 2 sculpted “white oars” they call orthotics.  I’m suppose to put them in my shoes and wear them all the time…but I HATE them!!!@#!*@!* My feet feel WORSE instead of better!

I am trying to find some other use for them, so I won’t be out my $30..(yes, I DID say three -zero buckos!).

Easter costume????                                  Home Décor?                               Food Scoop?

MAYBE I COULD WEAR THEM IN MY BEDROOM SLIPPERS?? COMFY FOR BEDTIME!!!

Does this mean I need to wear geriatric long underwear too?…cause I think I may already have some…(Don’t you just love my new fancy, fluffy socks with my “ensemble”???)

I REALLY HATE TO THINK OF WEARING THESE WHITE CARDBOARD “OARS” IN MY COWBOY BOOTS…NO SELF RESPECTING COWGIRL WOULD ADMIT TO SUCH A TRAVESTY…WHAT WOULD DALE EVANS DO???

I am also suppose to wear the  white surfboards in my walking shoes….NO, …YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING…

I am waffling between fits of anger, frustration and boredom…

PROBLEM:…I need to must walk 2 miles a day in this weather, for my health.. (obviously, mental health is involved.)

SOLUTION:…Just wear the orthotics like a good girl and walk…but……

PROBLEM:…I’m NOT a girl, I’m 62 years into life..and my walking shoes are too slippery and the snow gets inside them.

SOLUTION:….Put the “white oars” in my snow boots..DUH.

PROBLEM:…Snow boots are NOT walking shoes…After 2 miles they are killing me!

SOLUTION:…..SOLUTION…HMMMMM………..AHA! …I’ll walk in my walking shoes, making sure the Sandwich EMS services are on my cell phone speed dial, and alert them when I leave the house….

A BETTER SOLUTION….If I cannot walk…I shall EAT!!!

BY THE SPRING THAW, I WILL HAVE TO GREASE MY HIPS TO GET OUT THE BACK DOOR!!

OK, OK,…I’LL WALK WHEN I CAN….THERE HAS TO BE A FEW DAYS BETWEEN ICE AND SNOW STORMS!!

I LOVE MY ORTHOTICS, I LOVE MY ORTHOTICS, I LOVE MY ORTHOTICS….HEY, I JUST REALIZED ANOTHER USE FOR THESE SUCKERS………A GEISHA FAN….YEAH???

                                                                        SCORE!!!!

  1. Ha Ha! My orthotics cost me $300, so you got by cheap! After using them for five years and dealing with the pain, I ditched them in a dumpster two years ago! Then gave a big sigh of relief! :)

  4. I can't get the picture of a Foot Doc out of my head as he's sitting with friends, while slapping his knees in laughter saying "Yup, the ground is frozen stiff and covered with snow, and this lady still paid $30 for those stupid, useless white plastic packing material thingees I flog as a miracle for feet. Yeehaw!! Ain't this a great country"!!!

  5. Thanks for starting my day out with a good hee-haw...you are tooooo funny. However - I LOVE my orthotics and can't walk comfortably without them. I think yours look best as the bunny costume!

  6. Great post...have to say I love your humor and can't wait to meet you guys!!

I have the same issue but I opted into buying the cheapie inserts from WalMart that are marketed to help this.

They do feel good since they are cushioned and give me the arch support I need. BUT, they make my shoes tighter so I had to pull out the innersoles in order to wear them.

    Good luck!!!

  7. Love your blog and humor! But on a serious note, freeze a 3/4 full water bottle and roll your foot over it for a little while every day. A Chiropractor friend of the family told my husband to do this and it helped.

  8. OK Donna, Ya' can wear 'em or not.

I've had the 'Fancy Mixed Nut' affliction twice and although the orthotics hurt, they helped my flatter arches shape up.

With a big cotton ball on yer' bum, maybe you could get a job at the Heff Mansion!

  9. Have you ever heard of "cabin fever", "sun deprivation", and "stir crazy"? Just wondered! ; ) Seriously, my hubby could hardly walk and tried cortisone, gel inserts, the whole bit. Finally, he got the $300 inserts like Judy and Emma said, and his feet have not hurt since. They are really thin, and are custom made to your feet. In the meantime, go ahead and stretch out under a sunlamp with an umbrealla drink, put on your sunshades and listen to a little Buffet...it might just work!

  13. Had that Fasiousass foot problem years ago for a short period as well & had a pair of those white things. Think I wore em a couple times which made me too tall for my height & ditched the whole idea. Fassit, fazio, fates, fancy ass foot problem went away by itelf after a week or so & I was up & running again. Hubba bubba, no trubba.

  14. Yep, had that several years ago. Fortunately we were at Myrtle Beach, so I walked the beach barefoot every day. Otherwise, I bought Doc Scholl's gel inserts, put on my walking shoes the minute I got out of bed and left them on until I went to bed. No slippers, no bare feet except on the beach. Stood with my toes on the steps with my heels hanging over, lowered my heels to stretch the ligaments. Rolled my arches over a tennis ball as I sat at the computer. Sat with my legs straight out in front of me and pulled my toes back towards me. It took almost six months but the plantar fasciitis disappeared never to return. No orthotics, no podiatrists. No more falling to my knees in pain when I roll out of bed and put my feet down to get up. It ain't fun.

  15. I suffered with a bout of severe plantar faschitis for almost 2 years. Had the custom orthotics made by 3 different places before finding some that eased me back to health. Now that I am healed, everyone in my family wears Superfeet insoles in their shoes. My son is doing his second stint in seasonal retail and swears his feet are much happier this holiday season. They run about $50 a pair but are much less intrusive than the ones I saw in your photo. Give them a try, and ice, ice, and more ice for that inflammation! Good luck!
