I have been organizing our pictures we took when we drove to Alaska in 2002…(no camper then). We were gone one month, 11,000 miles…and made the decision that we would get back some day…As I sit here looking out at the snow, cold and icy outside…why the heck am I dreaming of the Great White North, where it is snowy, icy and cold???
HERE ARE JUST A FEW REASONS……
MATANUSKA GLACIER THROUGH THE WINDOWS
We stayed at the Lone Rifle Lodge, overlooking this glacier…It was a hotel, with restaurant and bar in the middle of nowhere….and a view to die for!!
Boy, I sure am gettin' a yearning for that absolutely pristine wilderness you can only get in Alaska… We really must give it some serious thought….However, you just can’t decide your going to RV to Alaska and leave the next day!! Food for thought….
Last night was date night….We went to a different place…I am not one who likes to create too many “patterns” …I like to switch it up every now and then…(McGuyver considers himself lucky to still be here!)…As it turned out …the drinks were a tad high….McGuvyer had a can of Bush Lite (no, really??), I had a glass of White Zin wine (which they poured out of a little bottle, just like they do at the Moose Lodge)…Ambiance, $1.00, cost of drinks, $7.50, reasons for leaving…many…We had our one drink each and hit the road for the all too familiar, but cheaper Sandwich Moose Lodge…This is where we can have the exact same drinks for $ 4.00…..Yes, we are cheap….
They have a very nice bar, and Saturday night is they serve Prime Rib and Porterhouse Steaks with salad bar…
Our bartender is most always Terri Stemmet (on the left)..and ALWAYS very friendly…
THIS IS JUST TO SHOW THAT MCGUYVER AND I CAN CLEAN UP ON OCCASION!!
Today Den and I drove up to see Uncle Jr. and Aunt Jeanette….which is worth one whole blog on it’s own…that will beTuesday!!
The weather man just came on and said we are in for a blizzard, (yes, I did say blizzard!) on Tuesday and Wednesday…up to 1 foot of snow or more with 50 mph winds and cold temps…HEY…I WAS JUST KIDDING WHEN I SAID “BRING IT ON” IN MY LAST BLOG….REALLY!!!!!!
SEE YA TUESDAY..IN MY MUKLUKS, PARKA AND SNOWPANTS…WITH A BRANDY MANHATTAN IN HAND!!!
Dang, woman. I think you are CRAZY for returning to the white wilderness of your own backyard! :) It's no wonder it reminds you of Alaska...
ReplyDeletejust one more snow storm!..you can handle it!..spring will be here before you know it..we had picture perfect blue sky today..grass is green!..what is this 'white stuff you speak of'..sounds a bit weird to us!..maybe you should just come north to British Columbia and spend 'winter' on the westcoast!..no need for mucklucks..maybe the odd mitten day!..
ReplyDeleteby the way ..you both do clean up very well!..nice picture of your date night!!
We're RVers from Lockport, IL spending a nice warm winter in Tucson, AZ. Just wanted to remind you what you're missing.
ReplyDeleteWe've enjoyed reading your blog this past winter. Dee's the blogger.
Alaska? Are you nuts? You're expecting a blizzard and 50mph winds with a foot of snow and you want to go back to Alaska?
ReplyDeleteThink palm trees, sand, sunshine and beaches quickly before your brain material freezes solid and can't be un-thawed!!
Would love to see more of your Alaska adventure, even if it was a few years back. Great photo of the two of you.
ReplyDeleteWE got the same forecast here in Dardenne Prairie, two days of ice storms, then up to 15 inches of snow, Look's like a quick run to Shop & Save this morning for a 30pk of High Life before the storm hits, Me and John will be back in business again. My son should make some change doing driveways in the subdivisions around us, the tractor is perfect for two car driveways, and I told him, do it cheap and you'll make a killing in quantity, it only takes about 15 minutes and he can charge the same as a kid with a shovel, however today try to find a kid with a shovel, unless his name is Macguyver. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteBrandy Manhattan! That used to be our drink of choice -- except that no bartender ever made it the way we liked it. Now we just drink Black Velvet and water (usually really water and Black Velvet) on the rocks. And we usually drink that at home because we also are cheap. We don't have a Moose Lodge in Benson, we do have a young Elks Club (the Lodge is young, us members aren't) with no building of its own. The Lodge meets in the Masonic Lodge's building. You do what you can!
ReplyDeleteWore my crocks today, & thought of you! You & the hubbinator are looking good all dolled up....you practicing for v-day? That's Valentine's day, ma! Get your mind outta the gutter ;)
