I drove to my daughter’s house in Sugar Grove yesterday to pick her up for a tag team shopping/ lunch trip. When she goes with me, she is guaranteed to be embarrassed at least ONE time during the trip…She lives in Mallard Point, a subdivision about 20 miles from Sandwich, in Sugar Grove, IL.
Her hubby, Tim, was waving me NOT to park in the drive because it was too slippery…OR…was he waving me off, trying to get me to leave???HMMMMM…
Tim was working a case (he is a Detective) and was getting ready to go to the Gander Mt. store…He was investigating some thefts…I offered to go with him to Gander Mt. ,one of my store Fav’s. I even offered to go undercover , wearing one of my special “ensembles” so no one would suspect I was working for the police…he declined…Personally I think I could have “broken” the case wide open.( Key word here is “broken”).
Ter and I had a great shopping day. We started at the Goodwill Store, moved on to Marshall’s, and ended up at Panera Bread for Cheese Broccoli Soup and Sandwich….
ABOVE ARE MY PRIZE PURCHASES……2 JACKETS….
LEFT, A LEATHER BLAZER FOR $5, GOOD WILL STORE
THE RIGHT 2 PHOTOS, A VELOUR JACKET FRONT, AND BACK…$10, MARSHALL’S
The next question is whether I am frugal, a wise shopper, cautious….or just plain cheap????YEP, CHEAP IT IS!!!
THE MALE CARDINAL OF THE PAIR SHOWED UP IN MY FEEDER TODAY….AND I FINALLY GOT A FEW PHOTOS….
The feeder was busy today….Bird chatter must be about the sub-zero weather expected tomorrow…
This is the first winter we have spent here in 5 years….It is going down as one of the coldest already. I am going to get some groceries today, and tomorrow I will stay INSIDE, IN MY SWEATS, and probably leafing through my RV trip photos, sobbing. It is my firm belief that old retired peeps like McGuyver and myself should NOT be living in Illinois , AT LEAST during the winter, where we are subjected to icy sidewalks, Arctic winds, scraping windows, frostbite, and snow blindness…Not to mention high taxes, high fuel prices and corrupt politicians who are now serving jail time….I ask myself this question frequently…WHY ARE WE STILL HERE? Yes, we have kids and Grandkids here…and in Indiana. But wouldn’t they LOVE to come see us in our warm weather retreat during the winter months? My brain is even freezing…(well, that’s MY excuse, anyway)..
I would like to welcome Joe and Nancy who are about to embark on their dream of full-timing RV’ers…Let me just say..I AM JEALOUS!! (of all you full-timers)…I hope Joe and Nancy can take this bumpy blog in stride, cause it can get rough, especially the photos of “moi”….
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR DIVING INTO THIS BLOG ….YOU MAY NEED A LIFE RING!!!!

ReplyDeleteWell we ended up with 10 inches of snow, but Mr Deere was up to the task and surprise of surprises when I went to go our and touch it up this afternoon, my son put his carharts on and said I'll finish it it's to cold out there for an old man. Who does he think spent two hours getting done this morning.Hope your Aunt is okay, boy 92 and still going out to sweep the steps, you know that's what she was doing. My Grandmother was the same way at 90, she made it to 93.I keep thinking it will get warm soon.I hope until then have a great day, and a happy hour, Sam & Donna...

ReplyDeleteI agree - get out of Illinois next winter even if you have to pull Dennis around in a protective bubble!!
I agree with you...get the heck out of Dodge! Are you crazy girl?? :) Life in a repair place parking lot is better than Illinois in the winter...
ReplyDeleteI so admire talented thrift shoppers! Guess the snow is staying in the midwest, we had blue skies today in Klamath. Reading about your snow made me appreciate my 36 degree day with sunshine
ReplyDeleteWith the price of gas going the way it is we may be forced to make different plans for next winter as well but spending winters in the north again is not an option.....
