Our Last Weekend Here

Well, this is our last weekend at Canyon Lake. We will pack it up and head on out Sunday morning about 7AM. The campground was pretty full over the New Year and there are still a lot of campers here for this weekend.
We spent a quiet New Year's Eve. Dennis put a wood fire in the grill and we had a few cocktail and some snacks. We also got skyped from our good friends back in cold Illinois. Skype is using a web camera to communicate online. It really was fun to see them and talk to them at the same time!! I love the web cam..it keeps us in touch with friends and family.
I made a "kick butt" con queso and also had some guacamole for our snacks..Dinner was chili cheeseburgers on the grill and we hit the sack at 10PM. I tried to stay awake for the New Year in New York, but didn't succeed..We ARE getting old!!
New Year's Day I put a pork roast in the crockpot to make some pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. I must say that they were great...along with cole slaw and potato salad..We stuffed ourselves..again!! This is not the way to make a New Year's resolution for healthier eating..
Today we went into New Braunfels for groceries. It started out foggy, but cleared off..When we got back it was 70 degrees and sunny. We are going over to our neighbors later for an "egg nog" and to see their pictures they took when they went to Alaska...(another dream of ours). I think we should go pretty soon..before I am afraid to ride with Dennis AND before I get so blind I can't read the map.
Tomorrow we will start putting stuff away for our Sunday departure. We like to clean up the area so all we have to do is pull in the slides and take down the TV satellite dish. There could be a line at the dump station with all of the people leaving that day.
We usually take down our computer dish the evening before we leave, so we will be offline from Saturday evening until Sunday evening. One thing about Falcon Lake Park is that there is no problem finding a spot for the satellites..there are no big trees anywhere, just low scrub brush, cactus, and a few small trees. I will not post anymore until about Monday or Tuesday and will take some pictures of our spot.
You will note there are no photos on our blog this time...I feel you may be a little tired of the Canyon Lake area and are craving a different view...I will oblige you next week when we hit the desert..Happy New Year to all!!!! Later...
