A Matter of Priorities

This will be short and sweet…well, this will be short. We are back home in Sandwich IL…Last Sunday I called our Aunt Jeanette from our campsite at Rocky Bayou State Park, North of Destin Florida…I wanted to see how they were doing…All she said was, “I can’t talk now, I have the ambulance coming.  I’ll call you later”…Now that will rock ya back on your heels!! I waited an hour and finally decided to call the Copley Hospital ER and see just who was being seen…and they told me it was Clarence Bark (our Uncle Jr.)…

I called our daughter Terrie (she lives close to them) and she and her hubby Tim went up to the ER and waited with Jeanette.  Turns out that Uncle Jr. had a bad pain in his legs and couldn’t hardly walk…lots of pain…They took an Xray and sent him home, telling him he has an aging spine and to see his doctor the next day for further tests.  Meanwhile Den and I were tucking things away and readying ourselves for a looooong 2 day ride home.  We left Monday at 6:30AM, and finally lit at Fern Clyffe State Park South of Marion Illinois…600 miles..Today we drove the remaining 350 miles and will be taking Uncle Jr. to a neurologist tomorrow for a 2:30 PM appt…

We knew when we left on Dec. 28th that this could happen…especially since he is 89 and she 97….but they were doing well and had neighbors and friends hauling in food and groceries…We had 5 wonderful weeks in Florida and fully intend to go back…Uncle Jr. (Clarence) and Aunt Jeanette are very special to us, since they have no kids and both of our parents are gone…They are very young at heart for their age and we enjoy their company….So, we are back in the land of snow flurries, snow shovels, freezing rain and high heat bills…but never fear..once I get my act together I will bore you with more snoozer blogs from my home….

  6. Fern Clyffe was one of our overnight spots over the years aa well. Even spent New Year's Eve there one time on our way home. We, like you, also have several aging relatives & it is always a great concern when we are traveling. You made it back in good time & quickly got the ball rolling with an appointment for Uncle Junior at the neurologist. That was fast. Hoping for the best outcome & thinking of you folks..........

  11. You guys are the best - terrific of you to pack up and head home to be with your family at this time.

Here's hoping Uncle Jr.'s tests find the problem, get it fixed, so he can catch up to his wife's 97 years of age.
