A short blog for a couple reasons…The main reason is that I am not able to take any of my cell phone photos off the phone and load them onto our computer for some reason..This just began yesterday, after I had taken some darn good photos on our walk…Oh well…Now I will be hauling my big Kodak around with us everywhere we go…Hey, it does take great photos, but is at least 10 years old. They are much smaller now, and easier to stuff in a purse…Wait a minute…I see a sneaky way of getting MacGyver to buy me a new purse!! “Den, I just cannot get this darn camera in my current purse..I need something much more stylish larger, more like a fashion statement camera bag…”. The other reason is that our Verizon signal is not very good here…it’s very hard to get a blog published at all…We shall see if this one “flies”.
Our weather here has left a lot to be desired…no sitting outside for my morning coffee yet…Today it is raining…AGAIN!..Dennis and I decided to go into Marshall to get groceries and do laundry…That pretty much shoots the best part of the day…I have some NY Strip steaks marinating for dinner. So far, “Chef Dennie” hasn’t had to put on his apron and do any grilling since we arrived here…I’ve used my oven more than I ever use to…. We are going into Jefferson tomorrow afternoon for the Christmas Parade, which will be fun. Guess I will be wearing my big red coat and hat…Possibly I could be coerced into playing the role of Mrs. Claus in that outfit…if they let me have some cookies! After the parade, we are heading out to little town of Uncertain. Uncertain, TX is about 18 miles Southeast of Jefferson. To say it’s a town is a bit of a stretch. We discovered it a couple years ago when we were here..We also discovered the Uncertain Tavern, which is pretty much a biker bar, but they have a great group of people who welcome any yayhoo or Yankee into their bar…They don’t have a website, but do have a Facebook page.
Last night, after finding that my cell phone is useless for photos, I broke out the Kodak and took a few photos…
We bundled up and took a walk around the loop…That Heron just loves to fish right in front of our Hiker!
MacGyver started a fire just about cocktail hour….
..notice the heavy coat he is wearing…and just for the record, having to don my red parka and red stocking cap around the campfire is ruining my reputation as a “fashioneesta”!!!!!
The evening did not disappoint us in the beautiful sunset department…
…the left photo was taken looking Northwest from our campsite…the one on the right I took by walking out to the point at the end of our loop. You might notice that Heron taking flight in the lower left over the water…And, yes, I do walk around the loop in my evening ensembles, but no one asks for my autograph due to the parka and cap…A few even ask me where my sleigh and reindeer are…!! (We gotta get someplace warmer….my outfits are just being WASTED hanging in the closet!!)
“FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU,
FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME,
FOOL ME 350,00 TIMES… YOU ARE A WEATHERMAN”
Yea, the weather has been awful here as well. We had a great "escape" planned to Florida to visit Stephen Foster SP. They do a huge Christmas light thingy and you get to walk through the campground looking at all the pretty lights. Well, guess what??? Rain, rain, rain and heavy rain!! We cancelled and went back to bed!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHope the weather gets better for you two real soon. Perhaps MacGyver should buy you a new camera that fits in your purse????
Stay warm!!
I guess the weather all over sucks pond water...It is 9:30 PM here and has been raining steadily since 9:30AM...
DeleteThe weather sure has been dreary and cold. I made sure to get my propane tank filled today so I don't freeze after the front moves through tomorrow. I am certain that I don't know where Uncertain, TX, is and I'm uncertain that it will improve the weather if you certainly move there...
ReplyDeleteI am certain we will find Uncertain, but uncertain if we will survive it....Ya just gotta love East Texas!
DeleteThings are looking up here in AZ come on over..
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we don't want to wander too far...the elders have a person stopping in once a week, but you just never know...
DeleteAt least you are making the best of the poor weather right now but I do hope it gets better soon. Strange about your iPhone, can you not just plug it in to your computer USB port and transfer the photos just like on a normal HD using Windows Explorer? Just look for the DCIM Folder.
ReplyDeleteTried Rick...computer doesn't even recognize my phone being plugged in...I think it is a phone problem...
DeleteWhen I take photos with my droid phone, I go to the gallery, pull "click" on the photo I want and upload to picassa. If you phone is an iPhone, Rick has the best solution for you.
ReplyDeleteMy phone is NOT an iphone....it is an android,.....Samsung....It's always worked great , but I contract is up this March...go figure.
DeleteLove the campfire and beautiful scenes you have. Even if it does look a little nippy.
