Blah, Blah,Blah

Since not much is going on here, I am living vicariously through other’s blogs who ARE doing something…The weather has been great here and we finally got all our flower and vegetables planted…I have all the bird feeders out and have had some really neat birds  here…but they never stay long.

This male Rose Breasted Grossbeak and his bride were here for a couple days for meals…then they disappeared.  I believe they ended up in Bayfield at Kelly and Al's house…

This baby Robin could barely fly, and he acted like he was lost….Soon after I took this photo his Mom showed up and pretty much told me to “stay away from my kid!” So apparently, I must look like a bird molester…Sheesh!…I was actually very surprised to see a baby Robin this big out and about!!

Every time I go outside to fill our bird feeders, I feel like someone is watching me..

You have no doubt heard that “the walls have ears”..Well, the trees have EYES!!! This Maple tree is freaking me out with the hairy eyeball watching my every move!..This “eye” is meerly a place where Dennis trimmed one of the tree’s limbs…I promise that we have not enhanced this in any way, shape or form!!! Isn’t is just TOOOOO neat???? (I do find myself watching over my shoulder every time I walk under this tree, and I’m pretty sure this is who is reporting my “evening wear” to the fashion police…creepy city!)

Remember that MacGyver had taken down our flagpole for a much needed paint job….Well, he got it all finished and our son, Kelly, came by to help him put it back up…

I offered up  my own rendition of Kate Smith singing a bar or two of“God Bless America” ….Dennis didn’t seem to impressed.Annoyed

Our next project will be to replace the screens on our front porch and then paint it…Not exactly my idea of fun, but it needs to be done…I really would prefer to just move into the Hiker and ease on down the road.  After getting our Real Estate Taxes, that SHOULD be on our “to do” list…Up $400 last year…Up another $400 this year …AND.. our assessment of our house went down $14,000!! Just how does that happen???…..As Desi Arnaz would say, “SOMEONE HAS SOME ‘SPLAININ’ TO DO!!” ( If you don’t know who Desi is…I really feel you missed an iconic TV show of the past)

I want to welcome a couple new followers to the “boring as watching paint dry” Cave Dwellings…Tammy and Art Fletcher are new to full timing an work camping at Hardin Ridge in Indiana…Janet and Kevin Shaw are hoping to be debt free and retire to full time RVing in 2014 or 15…DREAM BIG, I always say!! And also a “Wecome aboard” to Jimmy Sikes..Jimmy doesn’t’ appear to have a blog, but he jumped in the back seat of the GMC anyway!! Now, if we can only GO somewhere to make this blog more interesting!!

  1. A couple years ago a Mom robin decided to make her nest on our window ledge. I had a front row seat to the whole thing, nest building, egg laying, egg hatching and all the babies till they left the nest. All that separated us was a pane of glass. That little robin reminds me of those guys. So cute.

  3. What makes you think staying at home doesn't make for interesting blogs? I mean... who else has an eyeball watching their every move? And I agree with that little teardrop.... ???

  4. EEK! on the eyeball tree. I'm afraid Mrs. Grosbeak is really a song sparrow... No interracial marriages allowed!

  5. We have always had a flagpole whether in our past sticks & bricks or now as fulltimers. Raising our flags (U.S. & M.C.) is usually the first thing we do at each new camp. Really makes us feel like we are at home

  6. Creepy looking eyeball trees for sure! Nice flagpole, Denny did a great job on it. I guess you have to put the flag up and down every day?
